Prednisolone acetate
Indications/Uses
Acute or chronic non-infected conjunctivitis; allergic inflammatory processes of the eyelid, cornea & anterior segment of the globe eg, allergic conjunctivitis, iritis, iridocyclitis, choroiditis, optic neuritis, sympathetic ophthalmia, corneal injury, scar-prevention in eye surgery & eye injury.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac qid to 6 times daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. TB & fungal disease of the eye; acute herpes simplex, vaccinia, varicella & most other viral disease of the cornea & conjunctiva; acute untreated purulent ocular infections.
Special Precautions
Prolonged use may cause increased IOP, glaucoma, optic nerve damage, visual acuity & fields of vision defects, posterior subcapsular cataract formation.
Adverse Reactions
Increased IOP, open angle glaucoma, optic nerve damage, visual acuity & field vision defects, secondary infections, globe perforation, cataract formation.
